专辑介绍: Pedro The Lion 是一支来自美国西雅图的乐队。成立超过10年。风格是Indie rock, slowcore. 同样这也是一支我不熟悉的乐队。06年10月的最后一天，BT悄无声息的完成了一张名为The Only Reason I Feel Secure专集的下载。在随后的几天时间里。我逐渐和这支乐队熟悉起来。其实与其说这是一支乐队倒不如说pedro the lion 就是歌手David Bazan本身。 在wikipedia上搜索乐队名字。看到介绍。还看到一张很可爱的图表。色块的长短指示了乐手留队的时间。最长的那条色块，好象坐标轴一样的固定不变--正是David Bazan与乐队经历的这十多年的历程。 Criticism As Inspiration是我和Pedro the lion的第一次亲密接触。其实是很无心的下了专集。然后打开试听。鼓和琴声一响起，我涣散的精神马上集中。这声音似曾相识。于是去搜索。看到了专集封面--灰色， 迈开步子姿势奇特的腿。 耐下心来阅读所有搜到的有用信息。包括一篇wikipedia介绍和一段采访文章。 从前者那，我知道了以下这些内容： Pedro the Lion 由 David Bazan 在 1994组建并且出版了他们的首长EP 《Whole in April》 1997. 无论乐队成员如何变动David Bazan始终坚守着他的乐队，自弹自唱（就是自己演奏了所有乐器）地完成了前两张专集的制作-It's Hard to Find a Friend (1998) 和 Winners Never Quit (2000)。2002年Seldom乐队的Casey Foubert 加入了 Bazan 为专集, Control, 担任鼓手和键盘手 并且和David一同创作了 "Penetration" 和"Second Best". 之后的2004年专集Achilles Heel 问世。之后，乐队加入了另外一位在David之后的可以称为正式乐队成员的人。那便是T.W. Walsh, perhaps the only other band member -- besides Bazan -- to ever be considered an official member. 乐队总共出过四张专集还有一些EP 7首单曲。 在Bazan的歌手生涯中他曾参与过以下音乐人或乐队的歌曲演出 比如： Damien Jurado, Scientific, The Six Parts Seven, The Soft Drugs, Seldom, 以及Unwed Sailor. 他还和Nick Peterson，Frank Lenz 组成了乐队Headphones。 从后面那篇采访里，我知道了如下内容： 对于pedro the lion里的David Bazan来说，艺术和信仰本没有分别。这位重生的摇滚歌手给我们讲述着他的信仰是如何影响了他的音乐和生活。 接下来的是记者和David的一长串问答的记录。需要特别提出的就是很少有人知道他的音乐其实骨子里是受基督教影响很深的。（不知道这么翻译对不对，以前米听过这种说法，但是大概是可以这么理解，如下）也就是所谓的Christian Rock。但他一再强调。传统Christian rock所追求的和所宣扬的已经另他厌倦甚至反感。虽然深受其影响。但是David力图展现全新的内容。 "Anyone with a strong, sincere belief in something shouldn't treat it lightly," he said quietly. "It seems I'm always being called upon to boil down my faith for interviews. Defining it should be done with great care." Bazan believes Christian rock bands are wasting their time preaching from beneath a hot spotlight when "the basic act of being creative glorifies God." "That's where Christian rock falls apart," he said. "It turns the music and the message into crap. The message is degraded when it's made into slogans and low-level propaganda. They're attempting to reach a certain audience just like advertisers do -- and that, ultimately, degrades the art." A more pure model, he said, would be to try to express yourself artistically, as honestly and sincerely as possible.
