Now I am hooked. "Bewitched" is a little more varied than some of her other collections, covering jazz, standards, and pop. Unlike a lot of other jazz female vocalists, LF has the distinction of really being able to SING a song, in a unique voice that is as bewitching as her material. True standouts here are "It's Crazy", a melody she will imprint in your head like glue; a dreamily lonesome version of "Good Morning Heartache", and a surprising, lyrical, slowed-down version of "Just One of Those Things". Fygi is also surrounded by impeccably smart arrangers, and musicians talented enough to ALMOST steal the show. Something about all of Laura Fygi's music makes me feel like I've been transported to an exotic, romantic beach. Buy it, listen, and you'll be sitting next to me drinking Margueritas. Why isn't this woman a BIG star in the U.S.?
