For more information please visit www.malfador.com. --END Quote Ok, yes this is a "new version" of the old game you all know (and love?) called "Space Empires: Starfury". However, the newest available patch for the old Starfury is v1.15. Here you have a 2005 *Commercial* STORE release of this game at v1.17! 1.17 is not a free patch. You can not grab it off the web (at least not yet & there is no indication from the developer that you ever will be able to do so). You have seen this type of release before in the countless iterations of the game known as X-Plane v#.#! Or also Fritz v#.#. These companies will put out a new version every half year or every year with a new version. And of course all the ISO/RIP groups make a new release of it. X-Plane 6.0, X-Plane 7.0... But hey you scream, thats a dupe, its just a re-release of the same game. We think so, but the scene allows it. So, you got 1.15 in 2003, and a new 1.17 Commercial release with 2005 Files. Um, we and most scene policies consider that a valid "new release". PROPER NOTE: ------------ If you accept this GAME as a valid addition to scene sites, then you consider our PROPER too. TWK has bad FILE_ID.DIZ files like "[1/1]" causing mostly ALL SCENE SITES to have an incomplete version of their release. With no DIZ fix in sight, and the fact that the "race is over", the TWK release is nuked pretty much everywhere. On 10 Sites we checked (including a FORMER TWK site), most had *only* disks 1 & 2 out of *21 total* (if the TWK NFO is correct). One site had disks #3 & #4 and surprisingly one even had #6 and #7 with #5 oddly missing. We at TNT and most likely 99% of scene could not find disks 8-21 anywhere. Take our proper release and spread it far and wide my children! * Note the SRR "rules" and I quote: It is highly regarded when all sounds, speech and music are included in a rip and not intentionally put out as add-ons. -END Quote * And note MYTH's Juiced proper NFO quote: Thus the future of rip is in limiting how much traffic you incur, whilst still maintaining the quality of the warez you wish to obtain. -END Quote You know what folks, when you want to quickly grab a release just to see if you might like it or to see if it will even run on your PC, you kind of want a small CORE components version of the game. Meaning you don't need 100megs of backgroud music to be included in the MAIN rip, just to find the game sucks. god what a waste of speed you think... ** 'highly regarded' ** is not a rule, it's a suggestion by the authors of SRR. It is also one we do NOT agree with. Take a small 50meg rip to try the game? Or get it all with music and speech included at 150meg? TNT says: give the end users a choice if they want the background music or not. You know.. the reason why they liked to include EVERYTHING possible in the rip was because people had a hard time finding game addons (both sceners and lame leechers). "Lets put it all in one rip, so you dont have to worry about finding addons" -they thought. Well as we explained above, it's a waste of space and bandwidth to force-feed NON-ESSENTIAL game data (like movies, music, speech) down the throats of your intended "low bandwidth audience" ... They are the *only reason* we are making these rips (or it SHOULD be the only reason why RIPs are made - catering to those with low bandwidth or megabytes limited per month). NOTE: making a 'proper' of our release with music included is not a valid proper reason (SRR suggestions are not SRR rules).
