克雷洛夫：《驴子和夜莺》
驴子碰到夜莺，跟它说道：
“见到了你，我很高兴！大家总说你的歌唱叫人心旷神怡，请你唱一曲给我听听！我想知道大家说的是否实在，你的歌喉是否像人们所形容的那样了不起？”
于是夜莺就施展出它的全副本领。它按着曲调，一忽儿啾啾呖呖，一忽儿扬声长啸，一个顿挫，又变成了颤声百啭，接着是低沉地转为柔和的调子，依依地嘤鸣像遥远的笛声，然后是欢快的鼓噪洋溢整个森林。
司晨女神的好歌手百啭千蹄的时候，微风安息了，百鸟的和鸣寂然无声了，懒洋洋的牧群也在侧耳细听哩。牧羊人听着这个歌声大喜若狂，他入迷地耽在那儿，静静的谛听，偶而爱抚地瞅瞅她的牧女。
歌声停止了，驴子庄严地点点头，作出了它的评判。“确实不坏，”它说道，“我的小伙子，这确然是很可以欣赏的音乐。然而听到公鸡啼的时候，我们的心灵是多么的温暖啊！如果你向公鸡请教，学它一手两手的，你的本领就了不得了。”
然而，可怜的夜莺听到这样的批评，就倏的飞走了，一直飞上了九天云霄。
求求老天爷，让我们免于这样的差不多是盲目的批评吧。
