《蜘蛛巢城》改编自莎士比亚的名剧《麦克白》。这部片几乎可以看作是黑泽明前期的巅峰之作，深焦点技术的应用，让人清楚地界定了片中的每一个细节，兴奋的情绪，独具特色的运动镜头，让这部片具有少见的亲和力。影片的音乐以长笛为主，广泛地运用日本的“能乐”，极具民族特色，结构平衡，场面壮观。
获奖情况：本片曾被选入日本名片200部，并获十佳奖第四名，后来在美国举行的黑泽明电影回顾展上获美国纽约市市长奖。
原声作者：
配乐大师佐藤 胜(Masaru Satoh)一度是黑泽明的御用配乐，后来担任了多部哥斯拉电影的配乐，对于营造紧张气氛非常拿手。
