由前At The Gates的主唱Tomas Lindberg、希腊吉他手Marios Iliopoulos以及前Dream Evil、Firewind、Mystic Prophecy成员GusG.发起的Nightrage于2000年在希腊成军，随后移籍至旋律死亡重镇——瑞典的哥登堡。首张专辑演奏的是纯粹的早期旋死风格，犹如At The Gates般猛烈，凶狠。后来的专辑加强death及Thrash riff，使其音乐律动性、节奏性更强。自始至终旋律就深得哥德堡真传，与riff搭配得恰到好处，旋律死亡的标准结构，标榜着哥德堡的又一位传人的诞生。
