After searching out the right instruments and artists, L’élan Vital began to write and perform their pieces in Winter 2005. Brandon met guitarist Andrew at a Sigur Ros show in December 2001. They spoke of working together but nothing materialized until the project took form in 2004. Initially formed to be an african-drum based instrumental group, the project truly took form when Brandon teamed up with digital entrepreneur David West. Encorporating David's beat programming with Brandon's instruments, set the stage for Andrew's ambient guitar work and Sam Wise's classically based piano stylings to shape a definite sound.
