Similar to the Gene Simmons reality show, ‘Family Jewels’, and Ozzy Osbourne’s show, ‘The Osbourne’s’, this A&E reality show spotlights an 80’s rocker and his family in their everyday, quirky lives. I’ll be honest with you, Gene Simmons show, ‘Family Jewels’, had gotten to be a bit much for me. The constant flashing of money, fame and the KISS empire got to be a bit mundane. Especially in these financially trying times that many Americans are facing these days.Gene Simmons and his massive ego became a turn-off for the show and I am happy to say that Dee Snider’s new show, ‘Growing Up Twisted’, is much different. Sure, Snider and his family have money and such, but in the first two episode’s, “Carpet & Drapes” and “Baptism by Snider” we see a very down to earth family who enjoy their time together more than they do flaunting their wealth and success. The family is sometimes downright hysterical. The Snider kids aged between 14 and 20-something, all have aspiring careers are very driven and aren’t exactly content with just being rockstar children, which is refreshing. Their sense of humor is what carries the show. They are able to laugh at their family and what people’s preconceptions of them are. This is what makes them as tight knit as they are. If you missed the first two episodes of Growing Up Twisted, I recommend you catch up on the replays, whether or not you were a fan of Twisted Sister back in the day.
