把其它游戏类型的要素融合到RPG（角色扮演类）游戏中大家已经司空见惯了，但是各位玩家见过用桌面PUZ益智类游戏要素来玩RPG角色扮演游戏的吗？即将登陆于PSN、XBLA网络、PSP与NDS等主机上推出的《益智编年史》（英文原名《Puzzle Chronicles》，又译为《谜题编年史》）就是这样一款融合RPG（角色扮演）与PUZ（益智解谜）两种类型的游戏。 新作《益智编年史》（Puzzle Chronicles）拥有类似于RPG式的剧情，但是战斗却完全是以消除连珠游戏来完成。故事发生在由阿萨林帝国统治的蛮荒大陆，在这个诸侯割据的中土世界里，玩家将扮演一名年轻的勇士向邪恶的帝国发起挑战，从邪恶的魔爪下解救自己的部落的村民们。游戏里玩家需要控制自己的人物在各个村庄和城镇中打听情报、购买装备等。而进入迷宫探索宝物和敌人等RPG的要素也包含在游戏中，只是战斗时全变成了连珠消除类游戏。 游戏在战斗时通过PUZ益智游戏得方式进行的。主要战斗形式是在一个8×8的格子内消除各个颜色的宝石，看上去很像动物管理员之类的游戏。不过还是有很大不同的，因为战斗并不是以消除的多或者快为主。另外新作还搭载在线对战模式、线下对战模式以及5个迷你游戏等。 益智新作《益智编年史》目前由曾开发过人气益智RPG游戏：《益智之谜》（Puzzle Quest）的澳大利亚Infinite Interactive工作室所开发的全新力作，同时本作的发行商KONAMI也正式公布了本作将预定2010年的2月份在北美地区发售，有喜欢此类益智游戏的玩家可要留意了。
