Folkstone is an Italian folk metal band from Bergamo, born in 2005. The idea of this project is to bring back to life ancient melodies in a metal key. At the beginning the band find inspiration in transalpine bands, remaining closed to traditional electric instruments. These are: Fore on drum, Ferro on bass and Angelino on guitar. The strong voice of frontman is the orobic Lore. At the end of the year medieval bagpipes, bombards and the traditional Bergamo bagpipe”Baghèt” make their appearance.. giving to band the conclusive aspect. Teo is the first bagpiper, than Roby arrives and at the end Andreas joins the line up. So 2007 comes. In this year Folkstone record their first demo “Briganti di Montagna”, that has a good response. So work goes on until the first full-length album, “Folkstone”. In this album a new member makes her appearance and collaborates. She’s Becky, who enriches sound with her celtic harp. In the meantime Angelino leaves the group and comes Ghera on guitar. In 2008 the album is ready and its release is followed by an intense live activity in Italy and north Europe in festivals like Wave Gothic Treffen(Leipzig -D), Cernunnos Pagan Fest (Paris -F), Sauzipf Rock Festival (D?briach -A), Fiesta Pagana (Zürich -CH), Medieval Fest (Selb - D) , Hoernerfest (Hamburg -D)and so on.. until the end of 2009. This year sees also another change on guitar..Ghera goes away and comes Luca. At the end of this year, Folkstone write and record their new album “DAMNATI AD METALLA”. In this album the band make interesting collaboration..the most important is the one with their sound engineer and artist producer Yonatan Rukhman. Due to overlapping of engagement, harpist Becky chooses to dedicate her creativity to her original musical project(“Furor Gallico”group) and Clara takes her place. So this is the beginning of our new album and of our year….with wine , folk metal and lots of beer!
