2007年7月11日，芦苇船“阿博拉3号”从美国纽约启程。德国航海家多米尼克格利茨11日驾驶这艘特制的仿古芦苇船，从美国纽约的曼哈顿港启程，准备利用两个月时间横穿大西洋。格利茨希望用这次航行证明，早在哥伦布发现新大陆前一万多年，人类已经可以凭借古老的航海工具穿越大西洋。这艘芦苇船的船体长约 12.5米，由玻利维亚的印第安部族成员用17吨芦苇制成。新华/路透
