从游戏上的术语来说这是一款“复刻”型的游戏强化版本（说得直白一些就是“冷饭”作品了，但炒冷饭也是一门高深的艺术，好坏自有高下之断），本作收录了《生死格斗》一代和二代两款作品，但一代（以下简称Doa1U）只是一次横向的移植而已，只有二代（以下简称Doa2U）的作品才是使用了强化后的《生死格斗3》游戏引擎制作的。因此，Doa1U只是让FANS的怀旧作品，Doa2U才更有研究的必要。下文也以Doa2U为主评测对象。经过一系列的延期（官方当然是以提高游戏品质为由了），游戏一直从去年冬拖到了2004年10月底才终于发售（台港地区不受日本方面延期到11月3日才正式发售的影响，维持Xbox游戏的标准定价1390新台币，并提供特制小霞人偶模型与台湾专属的小霞图样抱枕作为预约特典）
