David Coverdale and Whitesnake surfed the crest of the '80s hair metal wave with hits such as "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love." This collection offers an overview of their career with a 2004 concert that includes most of their hits and a smattering of songs from their days away from the limelight.
同 Rainbow 乐队及 Gillan 一样，Whitesnake 乐队也是由前 Deep Purple 乐队成员唱主角。他们是主唱 David Coverdale 和键盘手 Jon Lord。在他俩的率领下，Whitesnake 成为英国重金属乐队中的佼佼者。
1976 年，Deep Purple 解散后，Coverdale 录制了几张个人专辑，都没有什么反响，于是他决定重新组建一个新的乐队来进行现场表演。Whitesnake 的第 1 张专辑是 1978 年的《 Trouble 》，但是直到第 2 年，又一位前 Deep Purple 成员——鼓手 Ian Paice 加入，录制了专辑《 Love Hunter 》后，Whitesnake 才真正成为一支强硬的重金属乐队。1980 年，乐队推出了两张上榜专辑《 Ready and Willing 》和《 Live in the Heart of the City 》以及一首英国排行榜前 20 名单曲《 Fool for Your Loving 》。
专辑《 Cone An' Get It 》于 1981 年推出，但随后 Whitesnake 停止了活动，由 Coverdale 处理一些法律和经营上的问题。1982 年，乐队变换了成员，由 Coverdale、Lord、前 Rainbow 乐队的鼓手 Cozy Powell、吉他手 Mel Galley、吉他手 Mick Moody、及贝司手 Colin Hodgkinson 组成新的 Whitesnake 乐队并推出专辑《 Saints and Sinners 》。
